The historic Café La Especial closed its doors in 2009. Its disappearance marked the steep decline in the once vibrant tourism scene of Avenue Revolucion in Tijuana. While the cafe so familiar to American visitors has closed, the same owners operate Restaurante La Especial more familiar to locals in Tijuana. Located near the former site of Tijuana’s old Bull Ring, it offers the same great tacos, carne asada, guacamole and chips so familiar and loved for decades.
